Human Erosion is an installation that coheres around the idea of public verse private and human verse nature. It illustrates human’s invasion of nature, focusing on the occupation of land. The idea stems from the observation of increasing construction of residential buildings and lesser nature spaces are able to be preserved. Artificial landscapes are being built while the untamed spaces are being destroyed for human needs, in this case, apartments and residential facilities. Moreover, the land, which is considered to be a public resource, is converted into private spaces, these residential spaces that own by individuals or companies. The application of brick, a common material for solidification is used as the foundation for each individual object, specifying the invasion of exploiting the land for residential buildings. Daily necessities are applied to indicate various rooms inside an apartment according to their functions. The utilization of sign elements emphasizes the act of claiming territory, a method that human is often used to proclaim and divide spaces.
